Restylane

Restylane^® is used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane may also be used for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years. Under the eyes Restylane^® does not enhance or cause a Tyndall effect (a bluish, gray discoloration) in the thin lower eyelid skin, and thus is the filler of choice for this location. All HA fillers (except possibly Belotero) may produce a faint blue-gray coloration in the skin.  This typically is seen in patients with very fair light skin tone and is caused by an effect called the Tyndall effect (similar to why the sky and ocean are blue; this has to do with the way light is scattered by the HA particles).  Patients find this annoying, especially if the HA is injected very superficially.
